Michael Leonard Stimson It is with profound sadness that we share that Michael Leonard Stimson left this world on August 24, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Wonderful and caring father to Ethan, Emily, Everett and Elisa. Loving husband of 20 years to Jennifer and faithful best friend to pup, Max. Adored son of Wendy and brother to Brandy. Dearest grandson to Grandma Dorothea and Grandma Pat. A wonderful son-in-law to Angela and Carmine. Beloved brother-in-law to Dave, Lisa, Dave, Marco, Marianne, Christina and Paul. An amazing uncle to Marco, Ella, Clark, Ava, Matteo and Charlotte. Cherished by extended family, Great Uncle Bob, Uncle Ron and Aunt Kathy, Uncle Rick and Aunt Mary, Terry and cousins. Mike loved the beautiful life he made. He was born in Scarborough on July 16, 1975, grew up in Unionville and spent his adult life in Durham Region. He cherished spending time with those he loved, especially his children and wife. He found peace in nature, around animals and fishing with dear friends and family. He recently added a greenhouse to his garden and found immeasurable joy in tending to his growing vegetables. He was the ultimate hockey and soccer dad, spending time at rinks and soccer fields with his Tim’s extra large, double-double coffee in hand. He loved cheering on the Leafs with his family and tinkering with his 1976 Corvette Stingray. An avid DIYer, Mike and Jen were often busy tackling house projects together. He had a satisfying career working in IT and digital marketing, where he made many lifelong friends. Mike had a sharp sense of humour and a calm demeanour. He was fiercely loyal and quickly made friends wherever he went – even to the very end, as he met other patients undergoing cancer treatments in various waiting rooms. Mike is pre-deceased by his father, Len, and his loyal dog, Stanley. The family would like to thank Mike’s healthcare team who showed him compassion and kindness, especially the homecare nurses and palliative doctors who provided great comfort to Mike and his family in his final days. A celebration of Mike’s life will take place at a later date. Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region or the Canadian Cancer Society. Mike, you were taken far too soon. You are loved by so many and are deeply missed.
