Mrs. Nimet Basha

April 1, 1954 - July 5, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nimet Basha (nee Gjurgjeali). She died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a year-long fight with cancer. Predeceased by her parents and her sister Sevim, she is survived by her loving husband Orliq, sons Roland (Kim), Fisnik (Mjellma) and Diellor; granddaughters Hana, Amelie, and Anisa; sisters Hyrmet, Sebahat and Myrvet, brothers Skender, Fatmir and Rexhep and the extended family and friends near and far. Nimet was born in Prizren, Kosovo. She met her husband and life partner in high school. In Prizren, she worked as a travel agent for over 20 years; survived the war to move to Canada with her family in July, 2000, where she worked in retail. Her family and friends will fondly remember her cheerful attitude, her gentleness, and fighting spirit that kept everyone going through various ordeals, up until the very end. The family is also deeply indebted to the medical teams both at St.Michael's Hospital and Sunnybrook's Odette Cancer Centre, for their tireless work in the fight against her disease. It is thanks to their dedication, skill, and knowledge that she stayed with us for a brief but precious year longer. The family would also like to thank the palliative care team that, with great compassion and understanding, guided Nimet through the last stage of her journey. We are grateful to have shared a lifer journey with her and hope to keep her legacy alive by following her example. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held between 6 pm and 9 pm, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Aftercare Funeral home, 1097 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario. The burial service will take place at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Glenview Memorial Gardens, 7541 Hwy #50, Woodbridge, Ontario, after the funeral service at the Albanian Mosque, 564 Annette Street, Toronto, Ontario.
