Robert Neale Brown

December 13, 1943 to October 18, 2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neale Brown. He passed away peacefully at Providence Healthcare on October 18, 2023 at the age of 79 after a long battle with interstitial lung disease. Neale was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1943. He lived there with his parents (Tom and Doris), brother (Donald), and grandmother (Helen). He attended Delta High School and Hill Park Secondary School. Neale got married at a young age and had two daughters, Holly and Roberta. Neale worked at Dofasco for 30 years before taking early retirement. Neale met Karen in 1993 and moved to Toronto. They married in 1995. Neale was a square dancer and a round dance leader. Neale and Karen met through dancing and taught round dancing for 10 years. They enjoyed travelling to dance events in Canada and the U.S., trips to the Woodward Dream Cruise, and shopping in Buffalo. They especially loved travelling to their favourite vacation destination of Saint Martin. They enjoyed having Neale’s grandchildren for weekend visits. After he retired, Neale enjoyed working part-time at Metro the grocery store. Neale is survived by his devoted wife, Karen, his two loving daughters: Holly (Jamie) and Roberta (Bob), his ten grandchildren: Robert (Mel), Sarah (Jason), Matthew (Jaime), Kaitlynn (Justin), Josh (Megan), Cody (Jenni), Candice, Alisha (Tom), Shelby, and Danny (Rachel), and his twelve great grandchildren: Nadine, Jordyn, Connor, Ellie, Emma, Riley, Ben, Ethan, Ivan, Aidan, Olivia, and Lincoln. Neale’s parents, Tom and Doris Brown, passed away in 1998 and 2000 respectively. Neale was a wonderful dancer and a fabulous cook! He loved seafood, peach pie, Empire cookies, Eccles cakes, mincemeat tarts, hot cross buns, and Bridge Mixture. He loved country music. He loved reading, especially his favourite authors, Robert B. Parker and Michael Connelly. He loved Britbox, Dancing with the Stars, The Masked Singer, Hudson and Rex, and Magnum P.I. (the old one). Neale also enjoyed an afternoon of watching the Toronto Blue Jays or a good hockey game with the Leafs or Buffalo Sabres. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Neale was a kind and generous person, honest and loyal, smart and funny. He was a hard worker and he enjoyed life. He was a good dad who called his daughters once a week. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him including his good friend, Howard and all his friends at Metro and the St. Lawrence Market. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Michael’s Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital, Scarborough General Hospital, and Providence Healthcare. At Neale’s request, cremation will take place and there will be no memorial service.
