Mrs. Violet Elizabeth Statton

Our mother has left us to become her energetic self once again. She passed away on the 28th of December, at the age of 81, not long after watching "The Sound of Music" comfortably in her home in downtown Toronto (what a city girl!). How beautiful it is to think that you left this earth listening to the angelic voices of your daughter-in-law's favourite movie and seeing the romanticism of your past, and of your life Mom. "Here I am standing here loving you, whether or not I should." You should Mom, you absolutely should. Insert smile and wink.The romanticism of your life will be legendary. Your great love will miss streetcars to simply catch your eye and to make you laugh. He will celebrate 58 years of marriage with his little redhead, on your anniversary less than two weeks before he left this earth. Mom, of course you will tell him to stop his nonsense a myriad of times since marriage does not equal perfection. But guess what Mom? Your husband will think you are the greatest treasure in the entire world right up until his last hours of life. He knows how lucky he was, as we all are Mom. Wife of the missed and loved Bruce Statton. Our mother Violet was --- A mother who knew how to be unflinchingly stern and so beautifully loving. Mother of the son that we all miss and love so intensely, David (Maru); Deborah (Andy), Darlene and Lisa. A mother who left us with "What will the neighbours think?" so surely placed in our heads. Insert smile and sigh. Not to mention, good things come in small packages. Your larger children will forgive you for that one! Smiling Mom. A mother that put everything into her family, children - and later outside work - but could have run an entire corporation if she was born in a different time and circumstance. She was that talented, that driven, that focused. A mother who loved curling (Tam Heather), dancing, volunteering, hosting holidays and parties - simply making everything so beautiful & magical for others. A mother that gasped and gave stern instructions if bottles were put on her exquisitely adorned table settings. Our mother, our beloved beautiful energetic mother. A grandmother who filled her grandchildren with so much love they must be close to bursting in missing their beloved grandma. Wasn't she fun?!? Wasn't she so loving. You all know how blessed you were with winning the grandma lottery, smiling. It was a joy to watch her with you all. Grandmother to Connie, Elysha (Brandon), Jacob, Bruce, Emma and Larissa. A mother-in-law that loved her childrens' loved ones with complete abandon. Oh how she loved you. Mother-in-law of Maru Statton (Maria Eugenia) and Andy Fong. A mother who appreciated & treated Jean Graham like a daughter. Our family is forever grateful for Jean's love, support and caregiving. A great grandmother who finally found her redheads. Pop. Pop. Pop. 3 for 3 so far Mom! After going 0 for 4, and then 1 for 6, what luck. How you would so love to follow them with your eyes in your final years. From Halloween night to days and years at the Ex, to the celebration of your eightieth. Redheads galore. Great Grandmother of Mason, Cole and Brock. A daughter who made her parents proud and sparkled her father's eyes. Daughter of George and Grace Monson. A sister who gave her siblings someone to love them so fully and to look to in life. Sister of Florence Bushby (Jim), George Monson (Carlene), William Monson and of Doreen Quirk. A sister who probably still keeps this score with supreme envy - Redheads: Aunt Flo 2 for 3; Mom 0 for 4. A sister that was like a super hero to save her brother from an attacking canine. Look at her! Wee Violet Monson to the rescue. Violet - 1; Doggie - 0. A sister-in-law that might have well dropped the in-law part as you were all her close family. Sister-in-law of the beloved Jim Bushby, Pamela Monson, Carlene Monson, Helen Monson, Lorne and Verna Statton, Verna and Bert Attaway, Ruth and Les Christmas, Frank and Joan Statton, and Shirley Fulbrook. A sister-in-law that made sure that divorce never meant family would be abandoned in any way. An aunt that made sure that every single one of her nieces and nephews felt special. I don't think it's too brash to say they loved you so very much and everything you did for all of us Mom. The memories made possible. And of course your smile, always there for them. Aunt of Diane, Doug, Carolyn, Gary, Dean, Virginia, Jimmy, Carolyn, Jennifer, Billy, Blaine, Heather, Susan, Bill; Karen, Donna and Janet. And special aunt to Michele and Julie. A cousin who treated some of her cousins like they were sisters. Cousin to so many. Love sent to our beloved Aunt Dorothy. And to Doreen Quirk whose memory remained with our Mom. And love and much thanks to Lorraine Newson. A friend who was loyal to so many, some for over half a century. So many beloved ones in California, that filled her heart with joy. Thank you. A friend who always gave notes and cards of love & thanks to make sure they knew how much she truly cared for them. To all of Mom's friends, thank you all for your love. Thank you to her employer Robin Hood Multifoods for providing our mother with great friends and a wonderful new phase of her life. Well Mom. Nothing is the same. How could it be? You were our every direction. Please know that we are aching for one more word, hug or kiss. But we are happy that you are now with Daddy and our David. Happy to imagine them waiting with smiles in their hearts and on their faces. Arms open in love and happiness to have their wife and mother by their side. Until we meet again our mom. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Village Family Health Team. They are located at Unit 102, 171 East Liberty Street, Toronto, ON M6K 3P6. The team provides a myriad of interdisciplinary health programs and were chosen because they treated our mother like gold from day one in every manner. Everyone there. If anyone is inclined to donate in Mom's honour, they would just like to extend that they are unable to generate tax receipts as they are not a foundation. Thank you.
