Mr. Frederick "Freddy" Hunter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

February 23, 1941 – January 4, 2018 Peacefully, and with his family by his side, Freddy passed away on the evening of January 4th in the Palliative Care Unit at the Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend to Donna. Loving father and friend to Robert, Lynn, and Stephen. Caring big brother to Barb and Larry. Freddy also enjoyed his grandsons, stepchildren, mother-in-law, and his nieces and nephews. As a talented musician, Freddy truly appreciated all kinds of music. He was a lover of international food, a well-timed joke, and all conversations about the extraterrestrial. Freddy was an avid outdoorsman with a great sense of adventure. He enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever and wherever possible, especially hunting for moose in North Hasting or fishing for trout on Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park. He loved to travel as far away as Fatima, Portugal to see the Basilica, to Cuba where he played the maracas shakers with the resort band, or as close as the Village Inn pub in Bowmanville for fish and chips. Freddy loved to be on the move. The family is sincerely thankful to the Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa. Specific kudos to the wonderful team of nurses in the ICU, the Palliative Care team of Doctor Graham, and Nurse Barb, who provided unsurpassed support to Freddy and to his family during his final days. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation Office, 24 Flint Ave. Bancroft, on Saturday January 13th starting at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Freddy is not gone – he remains a big part of all of us! Do not stand at my grave, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
