Hope Ainsworth (nee Dewing) Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hope Ainsworth, (Dewing), who passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 3, 2022. Always so full of life and love, Hope was a genuine soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Cherished mother/ grandmother of Lorrie and husband Darryl, children Samantha and Cassandra, O’Reilly, and Lisa, children Preston and Zoe, Ainsworth. Predeceased by her mother Violet and sister Debbie. Survived by her father Elwin and step- mother Marilyn, siblings Merlin (Roxanne), Dave (Kim), George, step-sisters Kelly and Jodi. Hope also held a special place in the hearts of her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Hope was never happier than when she was enjoying time with her kids and close friends. Often in the kitchen, there was never a shortage of home cooked meals (taking cookies from the container and placing them on a plate at HOME does so count!), endless laughter and many family get togethers. Hope’s happy place was in the Rocky Mountains and she visited as often as she could, whether staying in hostels or in her own minivan (she rigged it up herself specifically for camping) either bravely alone or with her grandkids who each had one memorable holiday with her! Born June 15,1951 in Sherbrooke QC, Hope grew up in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, living in Sherbrooke and Waterville. In 1969 she moved to Toronto with her family and started working for Bell Canada. Hope was married to Ivan from May 2nd 1971 until December 1991, raising their 2 daughters Lorrie and Lisa. Ivan was a long-haul truckdriver so they slowly made their way across Canada, Ontario, Manitoba, BC and then Edmonton, Alberta in the early 80’s. Hope devoted her life to her family, always putting them first before her own needs until she finally retired and relocated to Wellington to enjoy her golden years building up her ‘tolerance’ for fine wine (or was it adoration……) with the help of the Wellington legion and her wonderful circle of friends there. We would like to thank the staff with WestJet and the nurses and surgeon at Etobicoke hospital. You made us feel like Mom was in the best hands when we couldn’t be with her during her last hours.
