Horst Werner Simon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

In Loving Memory It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Horst Werner Simon, Husband, Papa, Opa, Great Opa (Opi), on Saturday January 22, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario. Horst passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and two daughters at the age of 83. Born May 1, 1938 in Rastenburg, Ostpreussen Germany, Horst was the second of three children including older sister Elfriede and younger brother Dieter. He emigrated to Canada in 1967 with his wife Ulla—the love of his life along with his two young daughters where he began a successful 27 year career at Air Canada. Horst was a dedicated family man who loved to travel and enjoyed a very happy family life in Canada. He loved his cars and the outdoors and driving to his favourite holiday destination in St. Pete Beach in May. He cherished walking the beach and enjoyed conversations with travellers from all walks of life. He was a fun loving man with a great sense of humour, quick with a smile and loved playing pranks on his young Grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time in Muskoka cottage country. Horst is survived by his wife Ulla, daughters Bettina and Manuela, son-in-laws Alex and Mark, his brother Dieter and wife Linda, grandchildren Josh (Yelly), Stephanie (Jordan), Sabrina (Zach) and Tania, great-grandchildren Marley, Mya, Caleb and Carter, nieces Nicole & Cindy, nephew Robert and predeceased Tom. His sister Elfriede also predeceased. We would also like to give a special thanks to the Nurses at St. Elizabeth Nursing Palliative Care Team along with Dr. James McGarragle for providing the deceased and family with so much compassion and kind care.
