Mark Alexander Johnston
March 9, 2022
Mark Alexander Johnston March 1964 – March 2022 We are very sad to announce that our brother Mark passed away just shy of his 58th Birthday. Mark died from an undiagnosed illness (not COVID). He was predeceased by our parents Frank and Monica and our sisters Frances and Karen. Mark was our dear little brother – the last of five children. As the only boy and the baby of the family, he was indulged and spoiled by all. We have so many happy memories of our growing up years together – including the wonderful summers we spent camping at West Lake near Sandbanks. Mark is described by friends and acquaintances as a smart guy, a very creative and talented graphic designer, generous, and a good friend. He had a wicked sense of humour. He loved gadgets and was a wizard using computers but he was definitely not handy when it came to fixing a leaking tap or any other household repair. Mark enjoyed cooking and he loved good food. Mark will be remembered and missed by the many people he knew throughout his life. Unfortunately, as an adult Mark had a battle with alcoholism. He struggled mightily and suffered some very hard times. We chose this photo as it captures one of the images we will have in our minds when we remember Mark – a happy, healthy young man taking Punker for a walk on a winter’s day. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined and Mark will be laid to rest in the family plot at St. Margaret’s in the Pines Cemetery in Scarborough. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mark’s name to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Toronto (an organization that helped Mark at a very critical point in his life) or another charity of your choice. We miss you. Rest in peace little brother.
