FITZSIMMONS, Mary Anne, 91 years of age, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 21, 2021 with her family by her side. She is now at peace with her Lord and Saviour. Mary will always be missed and cherished by children John Fitzsimmons (Sandy), Carol Geller (Simon), Kathy Corbin (Kevin), and Ron Fitzsimmons (Lisa). She will remain in the hearts of her 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Betty Kaczmarczyk and step-brother Steve Kaczmarczyk. Mary's nieces, nephews, and countless friends will fondly remember her for the love and kindness that she showed to all. Mary was predeceased by her husband Lawrence (Bud) Fitzsimmons, her parents Stephen and Annie Kaczmarczyk, brothers Stan and Alec Kaczmarczyk, infant daughter Margaret Rose, and grandchild, Gregory. Mary was a small-town girl from Cape Breton, NS. At a tender young age, she cared for her siblings when their mother passed away. Mary fell in love with Bud,who was in the Navy and later joined the RCAF, and so began the adventurous life of a military wife. She was a devoted wife, mother, family member, friend and employee who was valued and trusted. Her upbringing taught her that doing a good job and "doing it right" was important. Mary held a number of jobs but also volunteered for many hours with a variety of charitable organizations, and always desired to bring comfort and joy to others. She would listen and provide words of comfort or encouragement to those in need. While a patient at the Royal Ottawa Hospital Tuberculosis Sanitorium, Mary's leadership and caring nature was recognized. She was asked to represent the patients at an event where she met Prime Minister John Diefenbaker. Mary liked to relax by oceans, lakes or rivers, enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, and making creations with plastic canvas for friends and family. Her Christmas creations will keep her memory alive for many years to come. Mary’s humour was delightful and she loved to bring a smile or chuckle to people around her by providing a little song, dance, joke or sayings derived from her down east roots. She had a quiet faith which was demonstrated through her care for others and respect for God. She cherished Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer, which was shared with her family before she passed on to heaven. Cremation has taken place. No service has been scheduled at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the National Air Force Museum of Canada (Trenton Ontario), the Salvation Army or continue Mary’s love simply by thanking someone with a Tim Horton or McDonald's gift card. The family wishes to thank the staff at Trent Valley Lodge in Trenton for their love and care during her final few years and the staff of Applefest Lodge in Brighton for their care prior to that.
