Olga Nickle 1929-2022 In her lifetime, Olga Nickle was an artist, a teacher, a healer and a beloved mother and cousin. She passed peacefully February 16, 2022 in North York, Ontario at the age of 92. Born Olga Edith Paul in Toronto in 1929, Olga studied at the University of Western Ontario, and later at the Ontario Teacher’s College, and spent a career teaching elementary school and secondary school. Her career began in Toronto teaching elementary school, and went from there to a year-long assignment teaching in England, and then to Northern Ontario where she taught Indigenous children who lived with their families on a reservation. She taught secondary school in York Region and Muskoka where she lived with her husband Lawrence Nickle and son David, and in 1972 she came to Richmond Hill with David. There, she supply taught in York Region and North York, and after studying at the Ontario College of Art to obtain her certification for teaching art, joined the North York Board of Education. During this time, Olga taught students at schools including Northview Secondary School, A.Y. Jackson Secondary School, Castle Frank Secondary School, Don Head Secondary School and Central Technical Secondary School. She also worked one on one with students at Toronto’s S.E.E.D. Alternative School. Olga retired from teaching to deal with a serious health issue, and during that time she turned her attention to healing and counselling, through Reiki and a technique she developed known as the Learning Path Technique. Through her work with healing and counselling and her many years teaching, Olga touched and enriched thousands of lives. Olga was an accomplished painter, portrait artist and sculptor, choosing to work in wood. She leaves her son David Nickle and cousin Alex Eftimoff.
