Tony Burt

July 4 1971 - January 18 2022 It is with the saddest of hearts that the Burt Family announce the passing of their youngest brother, Elmore Anthony (Tony) Burt at age 50. Born in Springdale NL, Tony was the youngest of the eleven children of Lloyd and Cassie Burt of Rattling Brook, NL Tony grew up mostly in the absence of his older brothers and sisters as they had one by one grown and left home. He did well academically and his artistic and musical skills were both natural talent and self taught. Tony's artistic ability was noticeable from a very early age. His drawings would include simple strokes of his pencil that would produce so much story. His creativity brought his cartooning and comics to life. Tell him what you wanted him to sketch and he would capture your request and feelings with precision. Tony had an ear for music and fingers for picking; he enjoyed getting together for jams especially with his brothers and niece; he also liked just sitting back, quietly strumming his tunes. His intelligence and imagination were evident and a futuristic insight came through in his drawings. One could only appreciate it to see in his early sketches how technology seemingly caught up years later. A son, a father, a brother and a friend, Tony was predeceased by his loving parents Lloyd (2009), Cassie (2013) and sister Jeannette (1987). Those left to mourn include his beautiful daughter and pride, Jessica; his 5 brothers, Eldon ON, Ron NL, Herwin ON, Marden ON and Dwayne AB; his 4 sisters, Janice AB, Daphne ON, Judy NL and Darlene AB; many nieces and nephews; his close circle of friends including Amanda, Chris, Lance and others. Tony’s presence was large but he commanded very little attention. He came, he went, and simply enjoyed his family and friends along the way. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Tony’s life will be held at a later date.
