Shirley Jeanette Hollas

As we say goodbyes to Shirley Who fought bravely in the face of cancer, her passing a blessing in the end. Lost to us at Toronto General Hospital March 20, 2023. May all that knew her take peace in knowing Mom, Nann , Sister and Auntie , friend will live on in all of us. Born Shirley Jeanette Anne Jarvis in Peterborough December 26, 1938 to Keith and Jeanette (Lanouette), she was known for her stiff resolve and zest for life at a very early age. At a young age their family moved to Cabbage town area where Shirley would meet her husband Doug Hollas. After they married and had their family, they parted ways and remained in Toronto Beaches where their children grew up. Shirley then met Henry Nevilles and they remained together until Henry (Porky) died in March of 2020. Shirley started out as a clerk in United Cigar Stores and advanced as bookkeeper to continue a career with Mainway Ford eventually ending her career at the Central Office of Brewers retail. In her retirement years they ran for warmer grounds to Florida and Mexico where they enjoyed the weather and return to their country home in Ennismore Ontario for summer time. It was here that we recall so many gatherings of family and friends and all were welcome! Pool side, card games and plenty of food prepared by Little Girl Shirl and dishes supplied by all that gathered were the center for much laughter and celebration. And anyone that knew her knew she had a weakness for seafood and should always save her some locally caught pickerel! Enjoyed many pedicures and shopping trips with Niece Lynn. Shirley was a hardworking gal that ran an open kitchen, made great baked goods and maintained a clean fresh house. She had a robust sense of humour and loved reading. All family were welcome and newcomers quickly became friends. She was generous and loving to her grandsons and great grandsons, she was ready to receive guests at any time. She was survived by her son Michael (Mike), Steven and Daughter Christine (Ed Powell), grandsons Nathen (Julie), Mathew and Bryan and great grandsons Aiden and Baby James, also sisters Gloria (Ernie), Rose (Lindsay), Linda (Dennis), Deborah…Sister in-law Ruby and Doreen. Many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Jeffery, husband Henry, grandson Tyler, brothers Gary and Bobby and sister Patricia , brother in-law Patrick also her Nephew in-law David Abbott aka Uncle Dave. Forever in our hearts rest peacefully and dance in the stars Mom
